Wednesday Hero

I got this idea from rightwingedrightminded blog and thought it was a great idea! I was going to do my usual wordless Wednesday but since my daddy just left for Iraq a few days ago I thought it was right to do this instead.

My dad joined the army in 1988 when I was 8 and in the 4th grade. It was a very difficult change for me and I caused nothing but havoc when we moved. I didn't get along with most of my new peers and my teacher made it clear she didn't like me from the start. We lived in a craphole trailer in Leesville, LA and I hated it. I was so glad when we moved closer although the house wasn't much better I at least had my own room this time! When we finally moved into military housing it was a breath of fresh air! The housing was brand new and I had my own space and it was wonderful! Ft. Polk, I was told, has changed a lot since I lived there but all I know is that that area is very run down and just a craphole!

But I'm not going to tell you my whole life as an army brat but I will tell you that my daddy is one of my heroes (next to hubby of course!) and I can tell you straight up I am a daddy's girl...although not as much as my sister but I know he loves us both equally. This blog is dedicated to my dad who has been to the Gulf War in the early 90's and was in Iraq a couple years ago and now again.

I love you daddy!

An ode to Saphrym

I was so thrilled when I was chosen by Saphrym when he asked us Entrecard members, "Who would like to have a new widget made". I automatically messaged and was happy that I have no life and caught it before anyone else did so of course I was psyched and said "Hey, sounds great!". I have no experience in PSP and was happy when I was the first one to view his youtube video on how to make such a great widget! I am hoping that his popularity will get some traffic on my site that would be awesome!

Thanks Saphrym, you can make me widgets anyday! :)

10 Superstitions, traditions, and/or personality quirks

I have some weird ones this week.

1. I never open an umbrella inside
2. I have a bit of an OCD problem. If I see a crumb on the counter it will drive me crazy until I get it cleaned up
3. The toilet paper must always be over not under..I tend to do that at my parents house too!
4. My husband says I have this sense that when he gets up for PT that I automatically roll over to his side of the bed. I'm a bed hog I knew that!
5. My husband's alarm is that annoying buzzing sound but what is funny is that I can not hear it go off. If I set my alarm to music I can hear that. Isn't that weird or what?
6. I love mixing corn and mac and cheese together
7. When I was pregnant I would eat fries and vinegar, then I wanted to dip my corn chips in pudding....I still eat fries with vinegar though
8. When my hubby is deployed or goes to the field I always hide a shirt of his that has his scent and sleep with it
9. I hate the sound of whistling. That is the most annoying sound ever.
10. At Christmas time we would pack in the car and look at the lights. We didn't do it this past Christmas because this was the first time I celebrated without my parents and I was bah humbug.

There is my list, hope you enjoyed reading! If you comment I will comment yours back! :)

My hometown

When people think of Illinois they automatically think of Chicago. Well, think of a tiny town about 113 miles south of Chicago off of I-57. A small farming community called Paxton. I believe the population is around 1,800 or so and its a fairly white town which is why I'm thankful that my dad joined the army when I was 8...I think a little culture shock is what this little country girl needed!

We have a few celebs that are from Paxton such as Tom Meents who drives monster trucks, Bill Morrison who is in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame and a few authors. Okay, so Paxton doesn't have big name celebs but who cares! haha

I would love for you to visit the official website and learn about this little town. I love going back home and visiting once in awhile and going to my favorite restaurant...the 102 lounge. When I was little I wanted to waitress there but I probably will never have a chance to which is okay!

Yahoo's list of the ten most annoying singers

So I have to agree to disagree with a few. I really love Billy Corgan's voice although he is a jerkoff (my friend's ex-husband knows him). His voice to me is really soothing in some of the slower songs like "Tonite, Tonite" and I love jamming out to "Bullet with Butterfly Wings". I didn't see some artists that should be on there though (Ex. Ashlee Simpson, Britney Spears to name a couple). I can stomach a few Celine Dion songs although some of them are just way too over the top. John Mayer...I still love "Your Body is a Wonderland" I have to admit! haha

And Tiny Tim..yeah, he definitely needs to be here!

Who are your ten most annoying singers?

The Ten Most Annoying Singers

Posted Mon Apr 21 4:31pm PDT by Rob O'Connor in List Of The Day

It's stunning to learn that others don't share our tastes. Then again, how did an entire generation embrace faux wood paneling, shag carpets and putting thick plastic on their furniture? Well, someone thought it was a great idea!

Hey, I like Bob Dylan's voice and kept him off this list because I could! Instead, I found the ten singers most likely to make you drive off the road.

Now that's a terrible fate. Not only are you stranded in some ditch, but you're stuck listening to one of these ten singers, who it would seem are singing that way just to mock you. Oh, the injustice.

10) Celine Dion: I know there are millions of people who would beg to disagree, but let's get real, people. She sings 15 notes where one would suffice and turns every song into an anthem for self-empowerment. It's like getting an hour of Oprah condensed into four minutes. She sings. It's time to start the lawnmower.

9) John Mayer: Young people are impressionable. I'm not sure where John Mayer learned his vocal craft. I hesitate to call it singing. It's more like whimpering. And for some reason, this has become a trend not stopping anytime soon. As you'll sadly learn as we go further down this list.

8) Conor Oberst: As the wunderkind who leads Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst was given a certain amount of leeway since he was a young teen when he started out and his precious singing--so sensitive and intimate you could hear the post-nasal drip--was mistaken as precocious. Well, he's in his 20s now and he still sounds like he's swimming back to the womb for protection from this hard, harsh world. Come on buddy, stand up straight and stop trying to imitate the Cure's Robert Smith. He got there first. And even he must know he sounds a little silly.

7) Lily Allen: Contrary to this column, I want to like fresh, young talent. I want to hear singers bring true commitment to their material. The first time I heard Lily Allen I thought it was quaint. Then it seemed every young female singer was determined to sing just like her, as if they're running out of air in their lungs and have to get back to the respirator before the next verse begins. Sure, she's bouncy and spunky. But if I might quote what Lou Grant once told Mary Tyler Moore: I HATE SPUNK.

6) Devendra Banhart / Tiny Tim: I'm not convinced they're not the same person. Tiny Tim was a novelty item singing with that stupid ukulele something about tiptoeing through the tulips. Anyone with any half sense would know it was novelty item that shouldn't be used as the basis for an entire recording career. And for thirty years, it wasn't, until freaky-folk dude Devendra Banhart showed up and started warbling in that unlistenable, untrained vibrato the kind of nonsensical lyrics that didn't sound all that great back when people were taking the kinds of drugs you're supposed to be on in order to enjoy it.

5) James Blunt: All this talk in the media about whether or not waterboarding is torture is moot. Forcing anyone to listen to "Beautiful" on repeat constitutes torture. You want my darkest, deepest secrets? This guy's quivering voice gets you my social security number, my mother's maiden name, my personal PIN and any random government secrets I'm currently harboring.

4) Frankie Valli: Frankie Valli was a hero to some back in his day. I grant you this. He was consistent! He consistently sang in a voice designed to send dogs running for cover and perfect for breaking glass. "Rag Doll, " "Sherry," "Dawn," "Big Girls Don't Cry," the list is enormous. He very well could be tried as a war criminal. Who would object? Seriously? Who?

3) Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins): Yes, despite all his rage he's still just a rat in a cage. Unfortunately, that cage came with a microphone for him to transmit his Smashing Pumpkins hits to a helpless, hapless world at large. While Billy could orchestrate grand walls of guitar and write albums of endless tuneage, he insisted on singing it himself. Except this is not singing in any conventional sense, but rather the sound of a petulant, whiny child. This is what happens when parents don't tell their kids to shut up often enough. Children need to know you don't like them.

2) Scott Stapp (Creed): We could probably start laying the blame on Bono, Eddie Vedder, Jim Morrison and that guy from Blood, Sweat and Tears, but in the end it's Scott Stapp who epitomizes that macho bellow that sounds like a man who's gone overboard at the All-You-Can-Eat Buffet and has just received spiritual orders to let everyone know they're going to hell if they don't save themselves somehow. His spiritual torment becomes your problem. Thanks, pal.

1) Michael Bolton: OK, this was easy. C'mon, you knew Mr. Bolton would top the list. Who else can take a love song and turn it into a hernia? When a man loves a woman he doesn't do so by screaming in her ear--so why should it be acceptable for a man to sing a sensitive love song as if he's directing traffic for the hearing impaired? R&B classics deserve their place in musical history and should be protected from this man's desecration of all that is holy. It's only right. Let's make it a law.

10 on Tuesday

This is the daily meme from yano

10 Things I love about my life
1. My babies. They are what keeps me acting more of my shoe size than my age!
2. My husband. Who else can deal with my weirdness?
3. My family. They are what makes me...me!
4. My friends. They love me for who I am
5. I hate to say it but the military. If it wasn't for my dad joining when I was 8 I would still be stuck in my little farming community and would have never got to experience life!
6. Being able to go to college for free thanks to financial aid. I can't wait to graduate college!
7. Staying home and watching my kids grow up. I hate not working outside the home but I love watching my kids and making memories with them
8. Being spoiled. I have more than I could ever ask for
9. watching people enjoying my cooking. I hope to one day own a restaurant
10. enjoying life to its fullest! Even though I lived in Germany I didn't have a chance to visit Italy or England and I would like to visit to see some beautiful countryside...okay...and the men! (Just because I'm married doesn't mean I can't look!hehe)

So that is my 10 on Tuesday! Thanks for reading!

Oh Ville!

Oh how I became in love with Ville from HIM about oh 6 years ago when my sister was introduced to the band. We were living in Germany at the time and the first time I heard Ville's voice I knew I was in love! The music and lyrics are magical and you can't help but swoon over him!

If you have never heard of the band swing over to the site and take a look and listen, you may fall in love yourself!

And if you have heard of the band and love them tell me about your favorite song and when you first were introduced!

Not your typical army wife

arg! It drives me crazy when people, especially women who are not married to the military say "I'm so sorry your husband is in Iraq". (For the record he isn't there right now) I say "Why? The military is his job, he does and goes where he's told to. Its not like he was forced into joining the army". Most army wives drive me nuts, especially the newbies. Don't get me wrong, I was a newbie too although the ones who do know me are going "Well, you are an army brat you knew what you were getting into."....yeah I did but I was also raised as a pretty independent gal. My husband was like my first REAL relationship. I had off and on bf/gf but it was nothing serious so being single was not a big deal which is why when my husband goes to the field for a week or two or has to deploy no big deal, I can't whine about it its his job! I love the military life, yeah, moving sucks and a year long deployment can be stressful especially when kids are involved but I wouldn't want it any other way. I think separation makes the heart grow fonder in my opinion. When my husband comes home from being away for awhile it makes him appreciate me more (and more lovin in the bedroom too!hehe)

So for the record I do have military friends and I love all of them and I let them whine and cry to me because they are my friends and I'm there for them. My bff Janel tells me all the time how strong I am and how she loves that I am because she loves to talk to me and get advice from me. I love giving advice and I love talking which is why I blog so much!

But new military wives, be proud and be happy that you are married to a soldier in the US Army, after all we CHOSE this lifestyle and don't let anyone bring you down. The military wife is one of the strongest people in the military.

After all, we are the silent ranks!

(And P.S. not all of us are whores...some of us just like to flirt...alot! *giggle*)

Shaklee is the way to be!

I just started as a distributor for Shaklee so I'm really excited to be part of this opportunity. I started as a member about a month and a half ago and after using the products I just love them! The products are not only healthy for my home and environment but they are super concentrated which means they will last for a couple months! That is great savings especially having one military income which isn't enough sometimes. I am hoping to get some customers under me that will enjoy the products as much as I have. If you have any questions don't hesitate to visit my website!

Pay Per Post

get paid to blog

I finally got approved so I'm excited! I hope to make some extra cash so I can pay some bills and maybe buy something for myself for once! I stumbled across this site when I was looking to make some extra money and since I love to blog I thought "Hey, I will give it a try!". I was denied a couple times because I didn't have enough posts but now since I pretty much blog a couple times a week they finally approved me! I hope to make some new friends because I love to read new blogs and I get some really good ideas from reading other's blogs as well.

What I saw that I love about pay per post is that there are so many opportunities to talk about different topics. The prices the advertisers pay are very generous and I can't wait until I can make some decent money. I know that I'm still an amature at blogging but I am still learning and discovering new and exciting ways to make my blog exciting for my readers. I hope that I get more readers and using pay per post I am expecting quite a few! So read some older posts and see if they are to your liking!

My Monday afternoon downtime

I listen to Army Wife Talk Radio on Mondays at 4 p.m. Alaska time which is 8 p.m. Eastern time. I try to listen to it when I get the chance and I encourage all army wives to listen also! Tara Crooks is a great speaker and sounds very caring and supportive of the military and spouses since she is an army wife herself! Tonight she was giving out prizes and I won a couple so I can't wait to get them! Tune in on Mondays and check it out and talk to the listeners on the chatroom and listen at the same time! I also have the radio embedded on the right side of the blog as well.

My love for British men

I really don't know why I decided to make my Monday post about this but I guess after reading Lee Doyle's blog it brought up my love for them. Ever since I was 16 and I was first introduced to the band Bush I was in love with Gavin Rossdale...omg how I wanted to jump that man! How I adore Gwen Stefani! So my sister and I were so into the British hype. We were watching all the old shows on PBS they used to play on Saturday nights, my love of Mr. Bean is still in my heart to this day. I dreamt of living in England married to a sexy Gavin Rossdale lookalike just so he could talk to me in his sexy accent while we were having sex...oh fantasies! Before I was married I got my wish and had a romp with a hot British soldier when him and his unit came to Ft. Stewart...oh yeah, and I wanted my panties back but I know I'll never get them back since that was years ago! Oh well, I guess that was his trophy of getting to have sex with a cute little Yank from Illinois....

But reality is now and I have been with my sexy soldier boy from New York and we have 2 beautiful babies but don't get me wrong, my British men fantasies come around a time or two sometimes...and what married girl don't fantasize every now and then?

Do we really need to do this virtually?

Align Center

So a friend of mine sent me this link of a new Wii game. What you do is put on this...umm...strap on and pee into the toilet. Watch the video on this link. I don't know what to think of it but leave it to the good 'ol Japanese to make up this stuff! haha

Can mommy have a time out please?

Its nice at night, hubby falls asleep with the baby around oh, about 9 ish so I get his butt up and have him take Braden with him so he can go to his bed. I love this time for me. I get on and check my myspace, cafemom, and drop my cards off on the ones who drop on me, comment on whatever posts sound good and get my e-mails read and caught up. I try to get some homework done since I have 2 online college courses for culinary. I so wish I could go to a classroom setting type but since I have 2 young kids who aren't in school and one vehicle it is difficult. Hubby is trying to get into some classes so if he goes in the evening I'll go in the daytime. He won't have to go into work, just PT. I also get some reading in when I have the time also. My nights end usually around 1 a.m. ish. I'm telling you, mommies need more hours in the day to get everything done!

Don't get me started with chores!

It feels really good to do this

I regularly check out Rocky's blog (the feeds are on the right hand side labeled muthahood ain't for sissies) and her newest one on cafemom opened my eyes. It talked of women in the Congo being raped by the soldiers that are supposed to be protecting them. I was reading in horror of the brutal rape and beatings of women, young and old and my heart went out to them. I felt that I needed to do something then sit here and mourn for them. I took my credit card out and filled out the information needed. I am excited to see who my sister is and hoping that I can help her in any way I can.

If you would like more information on helping the women in these countries check out this website.

I just don't understand

So as I was looking at the yahoo news today I came across an interesting article. Apparently Mr. A-Rod or whoever he is that plays for my husband's favorite team, the Yankees makes 28 million a year according to this article.

It really makes me sad. Why you ask?

Because my father and my husband don't have jobs where they hit white balls with sticks. They are in the United States Army and what are their annual salaries? Well, my husband has been in for 10 years and is a SGT. He makes a little over $2500 a month which is $30,000 a year. Thats an eh, so-so salary but think about this:

A-Rod who plays for the Yankees:
chases a white ball with his mitt
hits a white ball with a stick

My husband and father who are in the military:
Leaves for months to God knows where to put their life on the line
leaves families with less to no communication
puts their lives on the line for our butts

So you tell me who should have....no DESERVE the 28 million dollar salary?

Shaklee

So since I stumbled upon Sommer's blog one day I decided to try out . I was so frustrated with the Melaluca bunch everywhere I turned and it seemed that Shaklee was the way to go! I wasn't pressured nor was I obligated to buy products each and every month if I didn't have to.

I am a huge Rachael Ray fan and I watched the shows I DVR'ed. I saw that last Friday on the Dish that Lara was advertising it and I was overjoyed! Right now I'm only a member but I am thinking about upgrading to distributor so I can earn some extra money. With all the hype and publicity I may earn some bucks! I strongly urge anyone to look into Shaklee and if you don't want to be put under my name you can check out Sommer! She is fantastic!

Oh yeah, and she has a free giveaway on her blog so check that out! We all can use some water especially in a FREE cool camelbak! (and I don't need to go and find my hubby's when I go out!)

Wordless Wednesday

One day my cat decided she was cold.
