But...you don't even know that person that well!

Do you ever meet someone and know that you don't like them? That has happened to me a few times. I think..."How can I really dislike someone that I really don't know?" I guess its just instinct that your inner feelings go "Woah, that person is NOT someone to befriend". I think its your mind's way to help you stay safe from people who you should not trust. I have had that feeling about this one wife. I had met her when I went to my hubby's units thing and gave her the benefit of the doubt but my mind was screaming "NO, do NOT even try it" I just thought she was too fake and trying too hard. It seemed like she wants to make sure everyone like her so she plays like nothing bothers her. I can't reveal too much about her because this is a public blog so the people here will probably know who I'm talking about but we'll just say that her and her husband are not in the unit anymore which is a good thing for me. About hubby's unit...well...that is another blog that might be discussed at a later date....maybe when we are moved! haha

I've been tagged

Once you've been tagged, you have to write a blog with 10 random things, facts, habits or goals about yourself. At the end, you choose about 10 people to be tagged, listing their names and why you chose them. Don't forget to leave them a comment or message saying "You're It!" and telling them to read your blog. You can't tag the person who tagged you. Since you can't tag me back, let me know when you've posted your blog so I can see your answers.

1. I have a bit of OCD...if my table cloth looks crooked it bugs me til I fix it
2. I am kind of a germaphobe, I hate it when people don't wash their hands after using the bathroom. I literally had to train my hubby to do it
3. Since I've been selling Avon I've been such a girlie girl with makeup, perfume, jewelry and it makes me feel better about myself too
4. I am an odd military wife, I don't mind when my husband goes to the field or has staff duty, I just look at it this way: I have a bed to myself and can do my own thing
5. I'm getting more into pen-pals, I have a couple of pen-pals that I send snail mail to every so often and I love it...I'm also a part of a group called "RAK 2008" which stands for Random Acts of Kindness. Check out the group, you might like it!
6. I love movies but I can't get the time to watch them when I want that is why I loove Netflix!
7. I have strong opinions and an outlook on life, I'm still trying to battle my anxiety and I will win sooner or later but for now I have to rely on people to drive me places which I HATE!
8. I hate relying on people for anything, I would rather help people or do something for someone then ask for anything.
9. I am addicted to Dance Dance Revolution
10. I would love to adopt a kid when mine get older I think that would be the best gift to give a child who feels "unwanted"

I'm not going to expect anyone to do this because I have tagged my friends to the point where they go "Crista, I hate you!" (but not really of course!)
But if you want to go ahead but lemme know so I can see your answers!

Feb 22~What a GREAT day!

Late night TV

So I was online and had the TV on in the other room as a little background noise. I guess there was an infomercial on (gotta love those at midnight!) and all of the sudden the guy on there was talking about how we have a lot of fecal matter built up in our bodies...um WHAT? You know I had to go in the living room to see what he was talking about. I guess he is selling this product called "Almighty Cleanse"

I swear people sell some weird things on late at night, I wonder who really is up late at night wondering how they can buy some colon cleanse.

The picture I posted reminded me of the colon cleanse infomercial! I love The Nutty Professor!

I wonder if they have any late night infomercials on how to get fat sucked out of your stomach, that would be awesome!

"Christians" who hate pretty much everyone

Have you heard of the Phelps clan in Kansas? They are the ones who go to fallen soldiers funerals and hold up signs that says "God hates fags" and "God hates America". What saddens me the most is they have their children hold up these signs. How can you be a Christian and teach your children to hate everyone? Did you know that the only members of this church are the family members? I'm not surprised, hate breeds hate and normal civilized people wouldn't be caught dead in that church. I am loving this guy's blog about them, thanks to my good friend Liz who sent me this blog...you are amazing girl! I love reading blogs and I'm so glad she sent me this link to put as a feed on mine!

Bindi-I want to adopt a girl like her!

I was watching my daily dose of the Rachael Ray show and it featured Bindi Irwin (daughter of the late great Steve Irwin) and that little girl is amazing! She is 9 years old and has the mind of a 30 year old! She is so smart and funny and extremely talented! I loved watching her talk to Rachael and to tell her about her experiences traveling and seeing different animals and places. She talked about how she loves crocodiles and snakes and how they are beautiful creatures. The kids in the audience got to ask her questions and she said things like she "loves doing chores" and that she really never gets in trouble.

Man, I hope I can raise my kids as well as her parents have! :)

Is it break up time here or what?(I hope)

So this morning my husband let me know that it must be getting warmer here because the snow is starting to melt. I, of course, got all excited and had to look. The dreariness of the Alaska winter has gotten to me to the point where depression sets in and all you look forward to is what Alaskans call "break up". I have noticed that since this is our first winter here that people, like us, who aren't from here stay hibernated in their homes and when summer hits the people that you thought just moved in come out of their cozy homes to greet everyone. This happens every year so I'm told. I can't stand it an I don't know why people love it here so much. I guess because its beautiful scenery but that gets old after awhile and what else do you do? Well, I know that people who love to hunt, fish, camp, and ski would be paradise for them but what do the other people do? I guess we hibernate with the rest til "break up" hits then we look forward to summer where we have 22 hour daylight.

Well, I can't say much about living here but this is where the army sends us and my husband is pretty much the army's b@tch so to speak (sorry but anyone in the military knows I'm right!) Sometimes I wonder why the military would move families to weird and exotic places.

Oh well, I'm just taking it day by day anxious for us to move back to the good 'ol USA (and btw, this isn't the United States and anyone who has lived here knows that!)

Weight Watchers and my love of food

weightSo I had lost a lb since I have been on WW for 2 weeks. Its my own darn fault, I love food, I enjoy it, heck I enjoy it so much I want to go to culinary school just so I can learn to love it even more! I decided to join weight watchers because: a~I had failed at pretty much every diet and b~everyone that has been on it lost a ton of weight. So I thought, well, if they can do it so can I right?

Well, for me I need more of a push, I need like a big shove. But I have been better and been shopping better. I try to stick to my list although its difficult when you have a junk food junkie of a husband who thinks he needs the big bag of peanut butter M&M's. I swear if I even THINK about knowing there is a bag of those hidden in my kitchen I will look high and low for them. Ugh, I have no willpower for junk food.

I have found a terrific website from my favorite cooking celeb Rachael Ray its called Hungry Girl and its fabulous! The woman behind the website is not a nutritionist but she gives you advice on things to eat and what you should (and shouldn't!) eat. There are also weight watchers points on the foods she recommends which helps out alot! I subscribed to the website so I get stuff in my inbox every so often.

So I'm trying and I will succeed, I just need the willpower (and the fact that I have a 10 year class reunion in October that I am WANTING to go to!)

My dad...

For years people have gotten him to think he looks like Kurt Russell so I'm going to post his pic and my dad's for you to be the judge of it.

An ongoing pattern that never stops or what?

So we have another school shooter, great, makes me feel better that I do my college courses online in the comfort of my own home. Doesn't make me feel better that my oldest is 2 and will be going to preschool in no time. What is wrong with these kids that they must go and shoot others then themselves.

No offense but when you look like this I would stay away from you in the first place.

I remember after I graduated, I think it was a few years later actually where some student sent threats about how he was going to shoot up the school. He was just crazy, but he was also picked on. Thats what happens when kids are picked on, they had enough! I'm not going to defend people who shoot up schools but look at the suspects who do these things!

Now the news says that noone suspected him of doing this but if you are on medication for something like insanity then yeah, there had to have been something in his brain that made him have to take drugs.

Look at past school shootings, there is almost a pattern:

This is what Wiki said about school shooters

Now some people say "We never suspected for him/her to do this" but c'mon, there is always SOMETHING in one's past to trigger something like this. We don't know what goes on "behind closed doors" and we don't know if the suspect was picked on by other classmates. What they say in the news and real life are two different things.

Bullies need to get reality checks before they start building another suspect.

My love of British comedy

So ever since I was about oh, 16 I was taught about the meaning of Mr. Bean. Oh how I love that man. To this day I still watch it over and over again because you know I had to buy all his shows on DVD. When my day is shitty who can cheer you up better than Mr. Bean? I watched Mr. Bean's Holiday last week and about died, I told myself "I MUST buy that movie!" so I'm going to soon.

Soon after that PBS was airing old episodes of "Are You Being Served", "Keeping Up Appearances", "Vicar of Dibley" and some others and I was totally hooked! My aunt asked us that year what we wanted for Christmas and we told her we are hooked on British comedies. She sent me "The Young Ones" OMG, amazing! I had never seen the show before and I LOVED it!

I haven't watched the British version of "The Office" but I have it on Netflix so I"m anxious to check it out. I so love the American version mainly because I love Steve Carrell and John Krasinsky.

So yeah, I am hooked on the shows. When we were stationed in Germany I wanted SO bad to visit England but we never had the chance. Maybe one day I can go.

One can dream right?

Valentines Day

Yeah, it was okay. I got flowers..ooo how cliche'. I was going to get all romantic with hubby tonight after putting the babies to bed but what do I find when I come downstairs in my cute little nightie? Him sleeping on the couch. Well crap. So I wake him up and he's like "are you coming to bed"...yeah right, just so I can watch you fall asleep upstairs? I don't think so.

Are there any romantic men left in this world or are we old married women just screwed for the rest of our lives with men who are "comfortable" with us so they think they don't have to do a damn thing to "woo" us....but then again he really hasn't been romantic at all since we've been married. He talked alot about it in his letters when he was in Iraq but all talk is what he is.

Someone out there find me a man who can still woo a girl! lol

Valentines Day is for dating and honeymooners.

Crista, why do you have to blog about every freakin thing?

When I used to blog regularly on myspace I would get comments such as "Crista, why do you care about this enough to blog about it?"

Well, last time I checked a blog is similar to a personal diary except its online and everyone can view it. I get mad at some blogs sometimes but I have to remind myself that that is their blog, not mine. Its their views, opinions, ect. I love blogging, its a drug that makes me come back. It doesn't matter what happened to me last week or last year I have to talk about it.

I don't blog on myspace any longer though because of the people who can't stop commenting and talking crap about me and the things I blog about. I'm sure one of my stalkers will find this and thats fine with me!

Til later!

Comments to civilian spouses when they ask questions like these:

WHAT NOT TO SAY TO A MILITARY SPOUSE

1. "Aren't you afraid that he'll be killed?"
(This one ranks in at number one on the "duh" list. Of course we're afraid. We're terrified. The thought always lingers at the backs of our minds ---but thanks brilliant, you just brought it back to the front. Maybe next you can go ask someone with cancer if they're scared of dying.)

2. "I don't know how you manage. I don't think I could do it."
(This is intended to be a compliment. Though, its just a little annoying. Here's why: it's not like all of us military wives have been dreaming since childhood of the day we'd get to be anxious single moms who carry cell phones with us to the bathroom and in the shower. We're not made of some mysterious matter that makes us more capable, we just got asked to take on a challenging job. So we rose to the challenge and found the strength to make sacrifices.)

3. "At least he's not in Iraq."
(This is the number one most annoying comment for those whose husbands are in Afghanistan. What do they think is happening in Afghanistan? An international game of golf? Guys are fighting and dying over there.) I have to add to this...KOREA is dangerous, LA is dangerous...it doesn't matter where the hell our soldiers are sent, it can become dangerous...don't give me shit about "well at least it's not iraq" sometimes being ignorant (not knowing) is the reason they ask this...but other times I can't help but say, YOUR FUCKING STUPID!

4. "Do you think he'll get to come home for Christmas/anniversary/birthday/birth of a child/wedding/family reunion, etc?"
(Don't you watch the news? WTF?No! They don't get to come home for any of these things. Please don't ask again.)

5. "What are you going to do to keep yourself busy while he's gone?"
(Short answer: Try to keep my sanity. Maybe there's a military wife out there who gets bored when her husband leaves, but I have yet to meet her. For the rest of us, those with and without children, we find ourselves having to be two people. That keeps us plenty busy. We do get lonely, but we don't get bored, OUR homes and children OUR lives keep up busy...going strong for our soldier to return, going strong because he is too. I have to add to this too....We are a TEAM, both my Soldier and I...and TOGETHER we can get through ANYTHING the army dishes. THAT is OUR MOTTO!! STRONGER TOGETHER NO MATTER HOW FAR HE MUST GO.

6. "How much longer does he have until he can get out?"
(This one is annoying to many of us whether our husbands are deployed or not. Many of our husbands aren't counting down the days until they "can" get out. Many of them keep signing back up again and again because they actually love what they do or they VOLUNTEER AGAIN and AGAIN to go back to Iraq b/c there is work that needs to be done.)

7. "This deployment shouldn't be so bad, now that you're used to it."
(Sure, we do learn coping skills and its true the more deployments you've gone through, the easier dealing with it becomes. And we figure out ways to make life go smoother while the guys are gone. But it never gets "easy" and the bullets and bombs don't skip over our guys just because they've been there before. The worry never goes away.)

8. "My husband had to go to Europe for business once for three weeks. I totally know what you're going through."
(This one is similar to number two. Do not equate your husband's three week trip to London/Omaha/Tokyo/etc. with a 12-15 month or more deployment to a war zone. Aside from the obvious time difference, nobody shot at your husband or tried to blow him up with an I.E.D., your husband could call home pretty much any time he wanted to, he flew comfortably on a commercial plane, slept between crisp white sheets and ate well, paying for everything with an expense account. There is no comparison. We do not feel bonded to you in the slightest because of this comment and, if anything, we probably resent you a bit for it. Comparing a 12 month combat deployment to a few weeks business trip is like comparing a shitty ford taurus with mercedes convertible.) -- ok I HAVE to add to this one... I hate it when people say, oh he's gone for ONLY 7 months? Mine left for 9 months or 1 year. This pisses me off! I'm considered "lucky" but what can't ya'll just see the fact that HE'S GONE!!! No matter how long it is, it's hard and we cope! GRRRR!!! ~v~---Now I have to add one...my husband came home from a12 month deployment at 8 months because he got blown up and injured.....and MILITARY WIVES told me I was lucky that he was home.......not "wow your lucky he didnt die"...."your lucky hes home I still worry about my husband everyday "......yea I was just SO thrilled that he almost died and all the shit we had to go through since he was a wounded warrior.......I would have rather he be there for 12 months and not get hurt........but maybe im just selfish?.......even military wives have a lapse in their brain power sometimes!

9. "Wow you must miss him?"
(This one also gets another big "duh". Of course we miss our men. There are some wives who do not and they're now divorced.)

10. "Where is he exactly? Where is that?"
(I don't expect non-military folks to be able to find Anbar Province on a map, but they should know by now that it's in Iraq. Likewise, know that Kabul and Kandahar are in Afghanistan. Know that Muqtada al Sadr is the insurgent leader of the Mahdi Army in Iraq and that Sadr City is his home area. Know that Iran is a major threat to our country and that it is located between Afghanistan and Iraq. Our country has been at war in Afghanistan for seven years and at war in Iraq for five years. These basic facts are not secrets, they're on the news every night and in the papers every day ---and on maps everywhere.) I have to add here...OPSEC BIATCHES...this means my soldier cannot and will not tell me or anyone the exact location, this is implemented for his and everyother soldiers safety. I follow and stand by this rule faithfully. It's more important to me to hear his voice on a call or chat on IM and to know I am also helping in the operation by NOT knowing so much

11. "Well, he signed up for it, so it's his own fault whatever happens over there.
(Each and every day he protects your right to make stupid comments like that. He didn't sign up and ask to be hit by anything, he signed up to protect his country. Oh, and by the way, he asked me to tell you that "You're welcome." He's still fighting for your freedom.)

12. "Don't you miss sex! I couldn't do it!"
(hmmm, no i don't miss sex. i'm a robot. seriously...military spouses learn quickly that our relationships must be founded on something greater than sex. We learn to appreciate the important things, like simply hearing their voices, seeing their faces, being able to have dinner together every night. And the hard truth is, most relationships probably couldn't withstand 12 months of sex deprivation....plus the battery business loves us!)

13. "Well in my opinion....."
(Stop right there. Yo, I didn't ask for you your personal political opinions. Hey, I love a heated political debate, but not in the grocery store, not in Jamba Juice, not at Nordstrom, not in a bar when I'm out with my girls trying to forget the war, and CERTAINLY NOT AT WORK. We tell co-workers about deployments so when we have to spend lunch hours running our asses off doing errands and taking care of the house, dog, and kids, they have an understanding. We do not tell co-workers and colleagues because we are giving an invitation to ramble about politics or because we so eagerly want to hear how much they hate the President, esp. while we're trying to heat up our lean cuisines in the crappy office microwaves.)

last but not least....

14. "OH, that's horrible...I'm so sorry!"
(He's doing his job and he's a badass. Don't be sorry. Be appreciative and please take a moment out of your comfortable American lives to realize that our soldiers fight the wars abroad so those wars stay abroad

Wow, its been 10 years already?

I can't believe this year I have been out of high school for count it, yes 10 YEARS! I feel so freakin old! I still remember like it was yesterday I was graduating and now I'm here, married with 2 kids! Where has time gone? It seems like life has been going by like a flash and stopped right now at this moment in time. I think about high school and reminence about the great times I had with friends and think about the guys I liked and now laugh because they have gotten ugly, fat, ect...most of them have still stayed in the area, how dull. I really want to go to my class reunion in October but if I don't, no biggie, I will just try to make it for the 15th or 20th!

Homemade baby food

I decided after talking to some friends who are into cloth diapering and all that hippy stuff (not like anything is wrong with that) that I should make my daughter's baby food. Its not only healthier but cheaper! I do buy the fruit and meat jars sometimes but the veggies I cook and puree up in the blender. I was sent to this link to learn more about making her baby food. I don't think I'm getting it right because the green beans and peas still have a bit of a texture that I can't seem to smooth out so I'm still trying to fix that. If anyone does this and has advice let me know!

This was a copy and paste from my blog on myspace. I am moving them to this so its about a month old

I got this bulletin from Tricia and I have adopted it as my New Years resolution for 2008.  People who are no longer my friends don't matter in my life, they are thrown away like yesterdays news.  The people who hurt me, wronged me, and screwed me over are, in my mind, dead.  I can let stuff go.  Don't get me wrong, I will never forget the bad things that happened to me but I can let it go and go on with my life.  Those people have made me who I am today.  This is the only blog that will be on here and stay on here to remind me that this is what I need....no HAVE to do to go on with my life.

I have recently debated whether or not to go back in my bubble.  I am trying to be more optimistic but since I feel like I have been hurt and betrayed lately I have not been feeling my awesome self.  My children have given me the strength to still go on and be happy and not let others get to me like they have in the past.  They are the ones who still let the stupid crazy inner child out and let me be me without judgement.  I know that even if I don't have friends I still have them and that is what is important in my life.

I have learned that being the victim of hearsay I just sit back and let other people figure out the kind of person that people who screwed me over are like.  If people want to know anything about that person I let them know and after that they can be the judge if they want that person in their life as their friend.

I want my friends to know that I still love them if they still want to be in my life, as my friend, and as someone I can trust and vice versa.  I have changed quite a lot in these past few months and that last blog that I wrote about the dead person was my last blog about it.  It was my goodbye.  It was not an invitation to talk to it about it.  I don't know why anyone needed to or had to.  What was done was done and I'm done talking about it or the situation.  You are forgiven but I will remember what I can/can't say from now on about anyone you are friends with or linked to.

Yes, I have created a blog on another site.  I had been blogging there for awhile.  Its a safe haven to go where I need to let out steam without ridicule, judgement, or running and telling people who I don't trust my business.  Will I let others know?  Maybe.  But for right now its my journal.  I'm sorry that what I blogged about got out to it but I'm never sorry for what I blogged about.  I'm sure my blog was discussed about to others but I'm over that.  I know things that I say or blogged about won't ever be personal as long as I do it on here or say to others so I have ceased to do so.

So for now, I'm done.  If you want to talk to me about anything that is fine.  If  you want to know the story thats fine too.  Message me, call me, whatever.  I'm not shy.

So, here is the bulletin my good friend posted and I love it:

LET IT GO ...

by T.D.Jakes

There are people who can walk away from you.
And hear me when I tell you this!
When people can walk away from you: let them walk.

I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you,
loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you,
staying attached to you.
I mean hang up the phone.

When people can walk away from you let them walk.
Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.

People leave you because they are not joined to you.
And if they are not joined to you,
you can' t make them stay.
Let them go.

And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person,
it just means that their part in the story is over.
And you've got to know when people's
part in your story is over so that you
don't keep trying to raise the dead.

You've got to know when it's dead.
You've got to know when it's over.
Let me tell you something
I've got the gift of good-bye.
It's the tenth spiritual gift,
I believe in good-bye.

It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful,
and I know whatever God means for me to have
He'll give it to me.
And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it.
Stop begging people to stay.
Let them go!!

If you are holding on to something
that doesn't belong to you and was never intended for your life,
then you need to ..LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to past hurts and pains ...
LET IT GO!!!

If someone can't treat you right, love you back, and see your worth...
LET IT GO!!!

If someone has angered you ...
LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge ..
LET IT GO!!!

If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction ...
LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or
talents ..
LET IT GO!!!

If you have a bad attitude...
LET IT GO!!!

If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better...
LET IT GO!!!

If you're stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new
level in Him...
LET IT GO!!!

If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship....
LET IT GO!!!

If you keep trying to help someone who won't even try to help
themselves..
LET IT GO!!!

If you're feeling depressed and stressed .
LET IT GO!!!

If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling
yourself and God is saying 'take your hands off of it,' then you need to...LET IT GO!!!

Let the past be the past.
Forget the former things.
GOD is doing a new thing for 2007 !!!
LET IT GO!!!

Get Right or Get Left .. think about it, and then
LET IT GO!!!
